Varsity Head Coach
Robbie started playing volleyball at the Lake Calhoun sand courts back in high school and while he admits to starting off quite horrendously, he fell in love with the sport and kept improving his skills. In college he played intramural level & eventually for the University of St Thomas men's club team, which was created his Junior year. Robbie is excited to be coaching his 3rd season at Southwest this year. In addition to coaching B Squad teams at SW, he's coached JO seasons at Centennial Volleyball Club and in Park Center. When not coaching volleyball Robbie is also a Track Coach at Southwest and works full time as an ESL teacher in Minneapolis. He also owns a Standup Paddle-board rental company called SUP Calhoun where you'll find him during the summer months.

Nicole started playing volleyball in middle school, and quickly fell in love with it. She played throughout high school, and in many intramural leagues when she moved to Minnesota to attend St. Catherine University. While at St. Kate's, she began coaching volleyball at Vital Volleyball Club. Also around that time, she began her career in personal training. This is where she discovered her passion for helping athletes of all ages become stronger, faster and move more efficiently.
She looks forward to helping the Lakers do the same. It will be a wonderful season of hard work, good laughs & great volleyball!
My love for volleyball started when I was 10 years old. I played all the way through my senior year of high school with Centennial Volleyball club and Centennial high school. I even had Robbie as a coach for 3 club seasons!
Now I am starting my junior year at the University of St. Thomas where I am majoring in Elementary education. I am so looking forward to this season and working with such amazing players!
Lorna is a huge fan of the sport of volleyball. She began playing at age 12, played competitively through high school and at Carleton College, and continues to play today. She has 3 kids: 2 sons at Southwest High School and a daughter in college. She's had a great time coaching middle school volleyball many of the last 8 years, and last year served as JV coach of the new Southwest Minneapolis high school boys’ team. She’s looking forward to a fun season!
